2. In short
This is a static information site. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and embeds no third-party content (fonts, maps, videos, social-media plugins). Personal data is processed only in the cases described below.
3. Hosting and content delivery network
The site is served through Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA; the contracting entity for EU customers is Cloudflare Germany GmbH, Rosental 7, 80331 Munich. Cloudflare operates a global network; pages are delivered from the nearest location, which for visitors in Europe is normally within the EU. A data-processing addendum including the EU standard contractual clauses is in place with Cloudflare, and Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
On every request Cloudflare processes technical access data (IP address, date and time, page requested, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and operating system) to deliver the site, to detect and prevent attacks and to diagnose errors. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). Retention of these logs is governed by Cloudflare’s own policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy). Cloudflare Web Analytics and other analytics services are not used.
4. Contact form, email and phone
If you use the contact form, the data you enter (name, email address, message) and the time of the enquiry are received by a server-side function of the site (Cloudflare Pages Functions, see section 3) and delivered as an email to the address above through the mail server of our email provider IONOS SE (Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany). A data-processing agreement is in place with IONOS; processing takes place in data centres in Germany. Cloudflare does not retain the form data beyond delivery; at IONOS it is held as an email in the mailbox. To avoid undeliverable messages, the function checks via a DNS query whether the domain of your email address can receive mail; only the domain part of your address is queried. Spam protection works without third parties (hidden field and rate limiting).
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract, or performance of a contract) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry). The same applies to enquiries by email or phone. Data is deleted once the enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods require otherwise.
5. Links to external services
The site links to my LinkedIn profile (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland). This is a plain hyperlink; no data is transferred to LinkedIn when you visit this site. LinkedIn’s privacy policy applies only once you follow the link.
6. Encryption
The site is served over TLS (HTTPS) throughout. Anything you submit through the contact form is transmitted encrypted.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and the right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21). Please use the contact details in section 1.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
8. Changes
This notice is updated whenever the processing on this site changes. The version published here applies.
